Digital Marketing Specialist (part-time hybrid)
We are looking for a renegade digital strategist. Someone who can crack social algorithms
while fighting for human rights. You’ll need sharp strategy & analytics, and a fire in your belly
for sociopolitical change. We’re a tight team of three working on big (and small) advocacy
projects – no corporate fluffing, just real impact. You will need to be dexterous and flexible,
the job will demand a wide range of responsibilities – and grow into a major role in time.
Terms
- Start date: ASAP
- Part-time consultant: Minimum two hours per day, Monday-Friday (minimum 10 hours per week, sometimes more).
- Hybrid: remote and office-based work in Fish Hoek, Cape Town. (Please note that you will be required to be in the office a lot in the first month)
- R10,000 – R15,000 per month, depending on experience & hours. No deductions.
- Initial three-month trial, after which you will be offered a one year contract if it is a good fit. This will become a permanent position.
Minimum requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in digital marketing and social media management.
- Proven track record in successful social media strategy, implementation and monitoring.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing all social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Threads, X, YouTube, TikTok, WhatsApp).
- Proven track record in SEO, Google Analytics and Google Ads management.
- Strong portfolio of successful digital campaigns.
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English.
- Ability to commit to two hours daily, Monday-Friday.
- Based in or able to travel to Fish Hoek regularly.
- Own laptop.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement & maintain comprehensive digital marketing strategies across multiple platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Threads, X, YouTube, TikTok, WhatsApp).
- Lead SEO optimisation efforts and manage Google Ads campaigns to increase visibility and drive traffic.
- Create and maintain content calendars that align with business objectives and audience interests.
- Monitor social media trends and platform changes, adapting strategies accordingly.
- Analyze performance metrics and provide regular insights to inform strategy adjustments.
- Manage community engagement and build meaningful relationships with our audience.
- Collaborate closely with team members to ensure consistent brand voice and messaging.
- Maintain brand integrity in all communications.
- Optimise budget allocation across different platforms and campaigns.
- Handle day-to-day management of all social media accounts.
- Agile collaboration with creative team on content.
Required skills & experience
- Proven track record in digital marketing strategy and execution.
- Deep understanding of social media platforms’ unique characteristics and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Google Ads, SEO, and analytics tools.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in datadriven decision making.
- Understanding of global current affairs and their impact on digital marketing.
- Absolute social media & tech guru.
- Experience in managing paid social media campaigns.
- Proven ability to grow and engage online communities.
- Strong understanding of human rights principles and progressive values.
- Strategic mindset with ability to see both big picture and tactical details.
- Exceptional time management and ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Self-motivated with strong initiative and problemsolving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Adaptable and quick to learn new platforms and technologies.
- Comfortable working autonomously while maintaining strong team communication.
- Interested in sociopolitical forces, human behaviour, popular culture on our continent and beyond.
- Solid understanding of activism and civil society organisations a major plus!
